While this is the longest of Maas's ACoTaR, I found it to also be the most engaging. I felt like some of the previous books, except perhaps the first one, struggled to find a good balance between the romance and fantasy elements, especially when getting into the fantasy war material. But this one, for me at least, found a really strong middleground between them, contrasting back and forth in a way that kept me on board throughout its runtime. But then, I might just be biased because Nesta starts off wildly toxic and self-destructive and I'm a sucker for that kind of character arc.

I rate this book 5/5 ??????????stars! It was a very good and exciting book! I liked the message in the book that was about how you don’t have to be gifted to make an impact on people’s lives. This book is a story about a kid who gets stuck in a school for gifted kids, and he learns that even though he is much different from the other students, he may just end up being what the school has needed all along, someone “normal”.

Not for me. Also, I really didn't appreciate that the author took a huge detour in the middle of telling someone else's story to talk about his own climbing/summiting story.
