One of my favorite GLH books, great for rereading during a heat wave! Written nearly a century ago, it is dated in ways that are both charming and cringey. But it’s a fun and wholesome story.

It’s depressing but very well written. Seems like it sour in CA, maybe Oklahoma, during the dust bowl.

This book was stunning from cover to cover. I will remember so many lessons. I have never smiled so much while reading!

And They Were Roommates

Oh my fucking god I hated this so much. My biggest problem is the fact that they’re 16. THEY ARE SIXTEEN. In what world does a 16 y/o get TOP SURGERY. It is like not recommended at all no doctor will do it. On top of that this guy figured out he was trans 2 years ago, already got surgery and is on hormones. That’s absurd. And not realistic. Additionally, Jasper was not likable at all. Nor was Charlie. There were no consequences for any actions. Everything felt so dire all the time but also SO over exaggerated. What trans guy is worried about people thinking his hands are too small. This was an abomination.

Fun YA read that I’m enjoying as an adult. Stories about a family of several siblings in the tradition of Elizabeth Enright and Edward Eager, whose books I enjoyed half a century ago! This is book 1 in the series.

This story openly and clearly discusses autism, with its blessings and challenges. One thing I especially loved about this book was how it accurately depicted the neurodivergent mind by constantly switching between prose and verse.

The Layover

The Layover is deal for readers who love enemies-to-lovers tropes, travel vibes, and emotional journeys with a bit of heart. It's sweet, reflective, and delightfully romantic

Wow, I remember disliking this book in high school but on second reading and a having more of life behind me I was engrossed the whole time and really enjoyed Jane Austen’s take on everyday relationships.

It started out so good. Then it got a little boring. It never really recovered and the ending was blah.
