The Sea In Winter
Christine Day
Good book for upper elementary/early middle schoolers. The character, Maise is complicated and it is interesting learning about Native American culture.

The Nature of the Beast
Louise Penny
This series of mysteries is part magical, part philosophical, part humorous, part spiritual and, also, part mystery. There is no obscene violence, but the tragedy is still there to be solved. A well-balanced read.

Simply Jamie
Jamie Oliver
He has some interesting recipes in here - some not what I would consider “simple”. However, I will make some batches of his Secret Veg Sauce, and I will use some of it to try his recipe for creamy tomato soup. I also appreciate his section on chickpeas - I got some new ideas looking through that section.

The Flexitarian Cookbook
Julia Charles
Had some really new, inventive recipes. I plan on making the Tangy Tomato Tacos with Guacamole! What is really nice is there are notes added to add meat, if desired.

This delightful book is filled with puzzles! The reader can solve the puzzles along with the main characters. The story involves Clayton Stumper, a foundling left on the steps of the Fellowship building. When his adoptive mom passes away, he embarks on an adventure to discover his heritage. The themes of community, cooperation and love are woven throughout the book.

The Starlit Wood
Dominik Parsion
The fairy tales that were collected by Dominik had a refreshing take on old tales! I wish to read more works from the authors.

Miles to Go
Miley Cyrus
Miles to go is an autobiography written at the time Miley is 15/16 and in the height of her Hannah Montana fame. There is someone helping to guide her write the book (and maybe even co-writing), but it’s clear the book isn’t dominated by a ghost writer as you can see Miley’s voice and personality on every page. There are so many details and insights into her life as you see her childhood, experience being bullied, her auditions, her family, and her work on Hannah Montana. She gives an open and honest account on how her life is changing with her newfound fame. Poetic and inspiring book and I hope she writes a book about post-Hannah Montana life someday:)
