I heard about this book through BookTok. It is the author’s debut book, and I highly recommend it. I love how she weaves in pieces of Egyptian culture into this story and the way she builds such beautiful character depth. I read it in literally two days because I could not put it down. The second and final book of this series is supposed to be released in 2024!

Yet another view of the horrors of WWII and the deep love that could flourish & last across the generations. .

This debut novel by a Nigerian-British author is told in the unforgettable voice of a young girl who dreams of getting an education and becoming a teacher. It also serves as a tutorial on Nigerian culture, which values oil and wealthy entrepreneurs but overlooks the rural poor and young girls. Our book group was mesmerized!
